So far it has been an evening of dizzying highs and soul-sucking lows. At 9 was the VH1 special on the life of Dave Matthews. That was the good part. Then Adult Swim, which was amusing. Then, we watched the steaming fetid pile of dung that was 'The Star Wars Holiday Special', from sometime in the late 70's before Empire came out. Think Wookie planet- Han is trying to get Chewie home in time to celebrate Life Day (presents are exchanged, and it just wouldn't be Life Day without Chewie visiting wife Nala, grampa Itchy, and son Lumpy. Yes, Lumpy). Think songs by Bea Arthur and Jefferson Starship. And Carrie Fisher, singing to a slow version of the Star Wars theme a song about hope and peace and love and stuff. Bob was getting ready to stick his Gerber in his ear to make the hurting stop.

Indeed a dark night of the soul.

I was all gonna make wise and pithy posts all night during my vigil but for the first time I had company the whole time. Bob came over and we all did the Adult Swim thing, and that horrid wookie Christmas special until hub went to bed close to 2am. Then shortly after that, Bean arrived. They snuggled on the couch while I wrapped presents. I also got a call from [livejournal.com profile] todfox- it was nice to talk with him, I hadn't in awhile.

We also discovered that a hat she had thought lost was, when she described it, the same hat I had noted every time I pulled my car out of the driveway for the past couple of weeks- it was sitting right by the curb of our driveway, getting rained on and et cetera. When she mentioned it off-hand, I said "I think I know exactly where your hat is!" Every time I'd seen it I'd thought 'I should go pick that up and see if it's salvageable' but I only saw it when I was leaving to go somewhere. She had knitted it herself, and was glad to be reunited with it.

Gordon came over around 4am. He was groggy from getting up so early, and Bob and Bean were groggy from staying up so late. We watched some of 'Spirited Away' and decided to go for breakfast at Kerbey Lane. Mmm, French toast! By the time we got home, we had just enough time to finish the movie before I climbed up on the roof to welcome the Sun. It was quite cloudy, but pretty windy so the clouds were hauling ass. There were also all manner of birds flying overhead, including turkey vultures (which I happen to like). So I was all contemplative for a few minutes, then climbed down. Gordon headed off to work and Bob and Bean crashed on the futon. I crawled into bed with hub for a half hour before he had to get up to go to work, and slept 'til 1. I'm up now so my sleep schedule doesn't get totally fooked. But as always, I had a good time.

Happy birthday, Sun. :)

I think I've taken this before, and my results are somewhat different from what I remember. I think UU and Quakers were higher up previously. Of course, the wording was a little misleading; I mean, to be a follower of Mielikkiism, you don't have to be pro-choice or revere nature, but as a result of the core beliefs of Mielikkiism 92.75% of its followers are. So would being a pro-choice treehugger count as a tenant of Mielikkiism or just a nice side-effect?
