So we did lots of stuff the last couple days. Want to hear about it?
On Thursday, Bob had a short rehearsal so he asked if he could come over and hang out. Then he asked if one of his friends could tag along; then the friend's girlfriend, then another friend. It became sort of a very mellow impromptu party, which was fun. Bob and the second friend crashed on the couch and hied off the next morning. Friday Kirby came over for dinner and we had fried stuff and pasta, which was really yummy. I just had some for lunch today, so I know whereof I speak.
Saturday, we had planned to go to Houston and hit the museum again- there's an exhibit on pearls that sounded neat. But we didn't have a specific time planned, so when I popped awake at 7 I decided to check out Io's garage sale and get some World Famous Round Rock Donuts. Io had some neat stuff, and I picked up an office chair (black leather! It had a couple of cat gnaws in it, but it was still a steal at $15), some books (a Hindu astrology one and a collection of Rumi, who Bean and Elder River are often quoting) and some fabric (purple velvet!) and clothes (tie-dye!). Then I grabbed donuts, called Brenda who wanted to come along to Houston, and returned home. But hub pointed out that by the time we got there, we wouldn't have much time to browse before the museum closed. Chalk one up for bad planning on my part; I should have been a drill sergeant and awoken everyone when I got up.
But by that time Brenda was there, and I asked if she wanted to wander around the neighborhood and look at garage sales... apparently this was a neighborhood thing, I missed the memo. We got a rug for the aquaria room for cheap, some neat crackle-finish leaf plates, and a juggling set that includes beanbags shaped like the Earth, Moon, and Sun. I don't juggle, but I'm always teaching basic astrology or astronomy to someone, and using grapefruits and glass beads and car keys and etc. gets really old after awhile- these will make excellent visual aides. Brenda took off, and we spent the rest of the day lazing around (I messed with iTunes- that program kicks ass!) and had more Bob visitation on Saturday.
Oh, I forgot to mention! We saw 'Kill Bill' on Thursday. I liked it okay; I think
tsarina summed it up best of all though: "The film comes across exactly as a graphic novel penned by a ten year old boy, complete with excessive gouts of blood and chicks beating up on each other." Indeed. :)
