(no subject)

Day Two. I really planned to go to work, really I did. I don't have much sick leave; after today, I think I'll be at zero or negative. But my throat feels like someone's been sticking a branding iron down it, especially when I cough. And it's not a useful, productive, Protestant-work-ethic cough, it just slacks around and does nothing but hurt like hell. So I didn't sleep much last night and called in again. Bleh. They did tell me on the phone that I can go on fax detail tomorrow- typing in reports that are faxed in (usually by the police) so I don't have to be on the phones. Hooray! :p I have no voice today except this one.

So I'm feeling bored and guilty and sleepy and hurty. Think I'll try for a nap. Maybe I can quit feeling sorry for myself and... um... I dunno, do fantastic art with construction paper like Matisse did when he was sick. Or something.

Vern is a fish killa

I'm bored! So I'm perusing the wasteland of daytime tv and coloring (therapeutic work, that) so I feel at least like I'm doing something. And oh, look, Trading Spaces is on! And Vern's doing a room, I like Vern's rooms! But then he did this horrible thing where he took these bettas and put them in these hanging glass boobie light fixtures, and puts these plants in them like vases. How will they feed the fish if they're hanging off the ceiling? Oh, no problem, says Vern, they eat the roots of the plants.

No!! Dammit, bettas are carnivores and you need to feed them betta food! There was a big thing awhile back where you could order these plants with fish in the vases and they said they'd eat the roots, then people wondered why the fish always died. It was because they starved to death, you jerks! Not that this is like 'let's crank out the karma for Vern's poor abused bettas' time but I just have to wonder if these home owners figured it out, or if they were soon decorating with little fish carcasses. That's probably some bad fung shui there!

OK, don't mind me, I'm going to take some more cough medicine. I thought it would be cool to talk like Kathleen Turner, but baby, it snot! Hahahaha! I'm funny!
