Mielikki has a soft, gooey center

These things will always make me tear up. The fact that they probably were designed to do exactly that doesn't change this:

• the opening sequence in The Lion King when Simba gets 'baptized'
  
• the part in Titanic where the old couple lies on the bed together while the water fills the room
  
• the Dave Matthews Band video for 'Everyday'. I just got KaZaA Lite and downloaded it, and I bawled like a baby.

I traded my water-heater telescope with scorpionis for her smaller scope- she had a Celestron!! (waits for audience to clutch their chests and gasp in admiration) I think we both ended up happy, which is the best sort of trade. She seems like a cool person- I hope I can hang out with her and talk astrology at some point.

I plan to take the scope out to Flipside. We did some shopping yesterday, including getting a tiny barbecue grill because there is a effing burn ban, so no campfires. I don't know how they're going to burn the Man at the end... I guess everyone will just shine flashlights on him. I'm still looking forward to it- it's gotten pretty hot, but it's nice and breezy. Plus, of course, it's clothing optional. Pray I remember my caucasian heritage, and wear sunscreen.

In sadder news, Bob thinks he's going to get canned next week. The only reason he moved out here was because of this job. I think there is enough for him here now that he would stay if the job went away- I hope so, he is a good friend.

Must go get ready for camp-out.
