May. 20th, 2002 12:12 pmMom gave me some granny panties. I wear cotton, they were new, cotton, and too small for her, and she used the line I hate: Well, I'm just going to throw them away. I must've lived through the Great Depression in a past life because this always gets me- I hate seeing perfectly good anything getting thrown away.
But I could never bring myself to wear them. I'm pretty utilitarian about clothes, but big white granny panties apparently cross some aesthetic line of mine. So I got a tie-dye kit at a hobby store and went nuts. There were 5 pairs; I did 2 in a rainbow pattern from left to right, and 1 in a rainbow pattern from top to bottom. I didn't notice until I untied them that that meant the crotch was a firey red. Haw haw haw! 1 I did in blues and purples, and the other in blues and greens. I left them to soak overnight, then rinsed them out this morning before I went to work, and threw them in the washer. So I have rainbow granny panties now! Huzzah!
Now I'm starting to think I might tie-dye some bigger projects later. I love tie-dye stuff, and the really well-done pretty stuff (like these) is fairly expensive.
