It was so beautiful- since winds were from the north, the air was relatively dry and we had a decent, clear view of the horizon at sunset for the first time in I don't know how long. So I climbed up to the roof to see how many of the planets I could see. All 5 visible ones are out to the west for the next several days. I caught them all except for Mercury, which I have only seen a couple of times in my life. The low horizon is blocked by trees, so I may not be able to see it from there anyway. But I also saw the newest baby Moon, just a sliver. Bob came by and climbed up on the roof to see what I was doing (and complained that it was cold, the freak!) and called it a 'Cheshire Cat' Moon. The dark part was well-lit by Earthshine, too- watching it, and all the fireflies in the cool air, was wonderful.

So I'm champing at the bit at work again today. I'm trying to think of somewhere we can go tomorrow- a nice long motorcycle ride would be fun. We could go to San Marcos and visit Dan, but what a boring drive that would be, unless we get creative and could find some way to get there without going down I35. We could also go to Hamilton Pool again, and I'd get me some exercise, but maybe the water will be too cold... we'll come up with something.
