Tax lady comes through!!! Having a business that's not making a profit saved our ass, so we are getting a refund of $900. After paying the nice tax lady, it comes to $600. We plan to spend it on advertising, so hopefully we can start making something resembling a profit. We're trying to decide between radio and the Chronicle. Everyone suggests the back page of the Chron, but I don't think it'll hit our target (stressed rich people who would spend money to float in a fancy bathtub) but we may do both and see what sort of response it gets us. The competition has an ad that is just boring as a bag of sand. Decent-sized print ads are expensive though.

Having a house helps a lot too- with the taxes, I mean. I have to say I think it really sucks that you have to pay tax on unemployment benefits. I mean, it's kicking you when you're down; and if they're gonna do that they may as well take it out before they give it to you like regular work paychecks. Feh. But this lady that does our taxes used to work for the IRS and knows her stuff. Anyone wants her name and number, let me know- I'm happy to pass it on. She charges based on how much paperwork she has to mess with, and since I gave her a big file box of papers I'm glad it's as low as it was. I offered her a free float.

Did I ever mention that we have a flotation business? Check this out. The idea seemed a lot more income-producing when we came up with it, before the dot-coms crashed; but it's still nice to have one anyway.
