Feb. 14th, 2002 04:42 pmWell, cool!
I have been trying to pry myself off of the Hallmark holidays, and not demand or expect stuff on them. However, I'm as much a child of mother culture as the next slob, so it's been kind of an uphill battle. I think I finally got to a good place in the last couple of years. Then my wonderful hubby goes and gets me an extremely keen prezzie- the entire Cosmos series on DVD. I've loved Carl Sagan ever since that series came out when I was about 12- and though I've had it on my wish list for a long time, I didn't expect to get it. Yay! *dances around* Now he gets to see it too, and I think he'll really like it, even though some of the science is somewhat outdated. The messages are still gonna carry, though- be nice to the planet, you idiots! It's a very cool place and we're in a very cool universe.
Otherwise, today has been ass day. Yesterday I met with student #4, a nice lady who reminds me of a friend- I wasn't thinking she'd be able to make the classes initially, but it turns out she can, so we have a class of 4 students. Then was the New Moon get together, which was eating Chinese in celebration of the New Year. It was oddly stressful for no other reason than I was having an extremely Introverted day- I wasn't really depressed or anything, I just wanted to stay home, hide under the covers, and pet the cat or something.
Tomorrow is the rehearsal dinner for the friend I'm marrying (to her hub-to-be) and the day after that is the wedding itself. She wants to do my make-up to help her keep her mind off of things so she won't get nervous. I haven't played Barbie head much and have no idea how to apply make-up, so it may be an educational experience for me. Eric and Bob are going to go to the gun show. Seems vaguely stereotypical, I'm going to a wedding and he's going to a gun show. On the other hand, I'm gonna perform the wedding, and he's planning to build a gun. So there! So busy weekend. Busy, busy, busy.
