austin_tycho: crater (Fall)
See, all that worrying, and I just went up to the scheduling guy and he said 'yeah, sure, you start October first' and we ended up talking for a half hour about all sorts of stuff. He even up offered suggestions about the float biz and everything, including a market I hadn't thought to pursue (arthritic old folks) and seemed to genuinely try to find me shifts that would make running the biz work best. He needs weekend staff, though, and while I would've like to have dropped the Sunday shift it was not to be. Eric's home then anyway. So now, I'll be working 9am to 730pm, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Woo-hoo!!!

Someone at SDMB asked if I was depressed. I've been depressed, but I really think it's job only stuff this time. I mean, I'm pretty happy with everything else except this. I got new fishies, and I could spend hours watching them; then there's all the Georgia stuff, cross stitch projects, organizing the libarry, and maybe some exercise would be nice. So it's not like I'm sighing and hiding under the covers.

I love my fishies! I got 4 neons. So now there are 8 neons, the one vain and lovely betta, and the catfish looking guy. I also cleaned the tank out, and it looks a lot better. Having the live plants makes for a much happier environment, but they love the tank so much they'd grow until it was just plants wall-to-wall. It was tough weeding them out, but it had to be done. I used to have 8 neons before, but 4 of them just... disappeared. Maybe the plants ate 'em.

Oh, and NO ONE can tell me what my new salary will be. Between all the deductions, additions, raises (percentage or flat rate?), etc, I can't get no salary love. I talked to about 5 people in three different buildings and got nothing more than 'well, it'll be about 75% of what you're making now.' Spluh!! I was hoping for a number. It turns out I will be loosing the longevity pay ($20, only for full-timers) but keeping the entire benefit replacement pay ($85+) which more than makes up for it. See, it's stuff like that. All I know is that I will be losing something like $200-$400 a month. How much will be determined later, I guess. :P

Oh, and they scheduled some stoopid training for us on a Saturday! From 9 to 5! The figured that's when most of us weren't working so they could get us all trained without shorting phone coverage. BLAH!! Oh, well. Turns out we part-timers don't earn comp time, we get paid for the time over our hours that we work. So more money for Stacy, which I imagine I could use- it being the holidays and all (this would be Novemberish).

Oh- and, cold front. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
