Rock Band released the funk pack. Thoughts:
Average White Band- "Pick Up the Pieces" This is boring, boring, boring on vocals. 90% tambourine and then saying "woo" and "pick up the pieces" a few times. Probably a lot more fun on bass. It's odd to hear a full horn section on a Rock Band song.
Earth Wind & Fire- "Shining Star" I've heard this one a zillion times since I was a kid, and thought I'd do a lot better at it than I did. I don't think I'm naturally very funky. Another big horn section piece. It was still fun; I've always liked this song.
James Brown- "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine - Pt 1" The highest level of difficulty on vocals... but once you hear the first couple of phrases, you pretty much have the whole song. James Brown sounds very... well, like James Brown, and even though I wasn't familiar with this song I think I did as well on this as I did on E, W, & F. Seems like I remember a Led Zeppelin song that talked about a bridge that echoes this; I wonder if I'm making that up. "Where's that confounded bridge?" 'The Crunge'? Anyone?
Of course, it also brings this to mind.
I've placed 21st overall as of this writing.
I'd do the bass battle this week, but it requires that I download 'Sugar Magnolia', and I'm sorry, I can't stand that song.
